Cedar Privacy Fence

The saps and natural oils in cedar aid the wood in resisting decay and fighting insect attack. Cedar is much more stable than other woods so there is minimal shrinking and warping. Above all, cedar has a beauty all its own with colors, grains, and textures unmatched to other fence materials. If you want colors other than cedar’s own natural tones, the wood can easily be stained. Properly constructed and maintained, a cedar wood fence will look great for many years to come, adding prestige and value to your home and garden. Cedar’s natural beauty and durability lends itself well to any formal or informal landscape and environment.

Construction of Cedar Privacy Fence

Our standard cedar privacy fence is a 6’ cedar picket on a pressure treated frame. The frame consists of 4x4x8 posts that are set a minimum of 2’ in pre-mixed concrete for stability. There are three support rails and a 2x6 beveled baseboard to complete the frame. We use#2 or better grade of Western Red Cedar Pickets. There are many variations that can be added like a 2x6 top rail with 1x2 side trim or 2x12 beveled base board. The fence height varies from 4’ to 18’ to accommodate any need. We can install pressure treated fences however do not recommend this style of fence in the humid Texas climate due to shrinking and warping.
